How to read today's cheapest gas list
Winnipeg gas prices are not uniform across the city — far from it. On any given afternoon, the spread between the cheapest and most expensive regular gasoline inside the Perimeter routinely runs 10–20 cents per litre — widest mid-cycle, when some stations have jumped and others are still holding the old price. The Red River Co-op and Costco sites usually anchor the floor, with the big corridors — Regent, McPhillips, Pembina — close behind. The list below ranks the twenty stations currently posting the lowest regular-grade prices in our database, refreshed hourly from a Canadian fuel price feed and a small amount of manual moderation.
Before you drive across town to the cheapest pump, do a little arithmetic. Saving 5¢/L on a 50-litre fill is $2.50. A typical Winnipeg sedan burns roughly 9 litres of fuel per 100 km, so a 10 km round-trip detour costs you about 0.9 litres of gas — around $1.30 in real money at Winnipeg prices. That makes the detour worth it, but barely — and fighting rush hour down Pembina or across the Disraeli can erase the saving entirely. The "Distance" column and the map (toggle on mobile, sidebar on desktop) are there so you can make that call quickly.
When Winnipeg prices typically move
Winnipeg has one of the strongest weekly discount cycles in Canada — the classic prairie pattern. Most weeks, the majors reset prices upward around midweek (Wednesday is the usual suspect), then discount them down day by day into a weekend trough before the next reset. Layered under that cycle, prices track the prairie wholesale rack — Winnipeg has no refinery of its own, so fuel arrives by pipeline and rail from Alberta and Saskatchewan, and rack moves pass through to the pumps within a day or two. Prices also tend to firm up heading into long weekends and the summer driving season. The cheapest corridors are consistently Regent Avenue, McPhillips Street and the Pembina strip, with the Costco gas bars and Red River Co-op sites usually forming the hard price floor for the whole city.
Two caveats worth flagging before you read the list. First, prices on this page come from a feed that updates hourly; an actual pump price can change between refreshes, especially for the major chains. Always confirm the cents-per-litre on the pump display before you start fuelling. Second, our coverage focuses on regular 87-octane gasoline. If you drive a vehicle that requires premium or uses diesel, click through to a station's detail page to see the full price grid where available.
