The other local edge is the spread: Red River Co-op's member-owned gas bars and the Costco gas bars anchor a floor often 10–15 cents below the priciest pumps the same day, so station choice and timing matter more here than the citywide average does.

Our collection job checks for new reports every hour, but an hourly check does not guarantee that every station received a new community report. Each station card shows the time the price was actually reported, not merely when our server last ran. The "cheapest today" rankings exclude reports older than 36 hours, and reports from the last 12 hours rank ahead of older ones so a station nobody has revisited since a price jump does not top the list.

Pump prices come from community-reported Canadian fuel-price feeds, including public GasBuddy reports. Station locations and basic map metadata may also be checked against OpenStreetMap. Our software matches those reports to stations, rejects incomplete records, and stores time-stamped observations. We do not collect prices by hand, and we never estimate a price for a station without a usable report.

Each price is a community report from a specific time, so it is only as current as that report. A station can change its price after the last report — and Winnipeg's midweek jumps can move the whole market several cents in an afternoon. That is why every price carries its report time and anything older than 36 hours is marked as last known. Always confirm the pump price before you start filling.

No. If you use the "Nearest to Me" feature, your GPS coordinates are used only within your browser session to find nearby stations. We transmit them to our API server (over HTTPS) solely to filter the station list by distance. Our application does not save the coordinates in its database, include them in analytics events, or associate them with a profile. You can also search by postal code to avoid sharing your GPS location entirely.

This happens when our data provider doesn't have a current price for a particular station. It can also happen with very small independents, recently opened locations, or stations that rarely appear in community price reports. We still show the station's location on the map so you can check the price in person if it's nearby.

Yes! Use the Contact page to submit a correction. Include the station name, address, and the correct price you saw at the pump. We'll flag it to our data provider and update the record as soon as possible.

Yes. Alongside regular (87 octane) gasoline, we publish dedicated ranked pages for the cheapest diesel, the cheapest premium (91 octane) and the cheapest midgrade (89 octane) in Winnipeg. Diesel, premium and midgrade prices are displayed only where the source supplies them, so those lists cover fewer stations than regular. Station detail pages show each grade that has a reported price.

No. We are a completely independent comparison tool. No gas station, fuel company, or refinery has any ownership stake in this site or pays us to rank stations in a particular order. Stations always appear sorted by price (cheapest first) and/or distance — nothing else.

Red River Co-op is a locally owned consumer co-operative: buy a lifetime membership once, and your fuel purchases earn equity allocations — historically paid out as real cheques and cash-back worth a meaningful percentage of what you spent. Because that rebate comes on top of the posted price, a Co-op fill is often effectively the cheapest in the city outside a Costco membership, and it is a big part of why Winnipeg's whole market prices keenly.
